Implemented DoD Top Secret Web-Enabled Application

  • Multi-Business systems web interface development
  • Unix security access controls
  • Remote system monitoring web interface

IntePros System Engineer provided UNIX system administration support in February, 2008 for the Combined Media Publication Center (CMPC) at the CENTCOM South East Regional Service Center (SERSC) in Qatar. He supported the web analysis tool Pathfinder to assure CENTCOM intelligence could access and review multi-source information systems from remote locations via lower-end computers. He consulted with users to understand access requirements to develop UNIX scripts and improve the Pathfinder web user interface. He recoded the Pathfinder’s application to work with the new browsers that are being implemented at the CMPC while maintaining compatibility with legacy browsers such as IE6 and Netscape 4.1. He provided system administration of other software products and applications such as M3, Prism, IUA, IWA and IPL.

The role of the IntePros System Engineer was expanded in July to support the NATO Secret Pathfinder. He had to re-architect major portions of Pathfinder to incorporate JOIIS search criteria into Pathfinder Boolean logic. He reverse-engineered JOIIS database schema and developed scripts to translate the decision framework into Pathfinder. He worked with NATO network and systems engineers to develop connectivity, data interoperability, and data integrity functions. He developed scripts for tools (Intel Toolbox, IED Reports, P_Drive, P_Drive special, R_Drive) to work with Pathfinder so it had the “Google” look and feel to NATO CJ2 intelligence analyst users. After successful implementation, he incorporated the Afghan Country Stability Picture database decision logic into Pathfinder and transferred the software version to the US Secret systems group with the involvement of the Foreign Disclosure Office.

System maintenance procedures where developed by the IntePros Systems Engineer who developed the scripts to automate the practices for Pathfinder installation versions. Daily administrative functions to review database, storage capacity, memory usage bandwidth usage and diagnostics from system monitoring tools were standardized. A web GUI was developed to allow users to monitor the Pathfinder system environment and search-result databases. The environment consisted of Sun Solaris OS and Apache web server, Tomcat application server, Memex and MySQL database.
