  • Provide timely updates to the Vulnerability Management System (VMS) to ensure accurate assessment of network status at all times and compliance with Information Assurance mandates
  • Maintain secure operating baselines in accordance with approved security configuration guidelines
  • Maintain configuration logs for each server, documenting Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA) compliance, configuration changes, backups, reboots, maintenance, and Mission Assurance Category assessments which include customer designation
  • Audit internal and external access controls and activity
  • Perform data spill cleanup and incident reports
  • Prevent e-mail spam, phishing attempts, and malicious code
  • Perform network and computer antivirus scans to protect from malicious code (viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, adware, and logic/time bombs)
  • Maintain signature-based and behavioral-based intrusion detection systems (currently Host-Based Security System (HBSS))
  • Review and analyze event logs to note problem areas, trends, potential gaps in network security, security breaches, and related events
  • Administer andmonitor the performance of high-assurance guards and cross-domain solutions, ensuring compliance with government regulations and policies
  • Monitor and report on a daily basis the network activity, anomalies, and significant changes to the network environment

Within our CMMI Level 3 structure, we manage enterprise risk to an acceptable level, including SAA and deliver continuous monitoring support services in accordance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-37, Revision 1. Our team has performed assessments of managerial, operational and technical controls on major applications and general support systems using comprehensive documentation and policy reviews; audit interviews with technical and executive personnel; manual and automated vulnerability and configuration (system hardening/baseline) reviews;  penetration testing and POA&M validation.
